Merav Ben Ari was the first woman to serve as Chair of the Internal Security Committee. She has promoted legislation to protect women and crime victims including the law on electronic monitoring to prevent domestic violence, the law mandating the IDF and security bodies report on numbers and handling of cases of sexual misconduct in their ranks, and the law on the preservation of rape kits. In the 25th Knesset, she was Opposition Coordinator and Yesh Atid Faction Chairwoman and won the “Knight of Quality Government” Award from the Movement for Quality Government in Israel .
